
Antonio Abatemarco is Full Professor of Public Economics and Scientific Director of the Research Laboratory in Economics and Innovation Technologies (LabETI) at the Department of Economics and Statistics, University of Salerno (Italy). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Naples “Federico II” (2005), and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of York (2002). His research focuses on social welfare and social choice, inequality of opportunity, poverty and mobility, progressivity of tax and pension systems, optimal taxation, and equity in health and environmental domains. Recent publications include work on environmental equity (“Measuring equity in environmental care…”, Ecological Economics, 2026), education and second-generation immigrants (“Age Effects in Primary Education…”, Southern Economic Journal, 2025), and income inequality drivers (“Rising income inequality and the impact of r-g…”, Review of Income and Wealth, 2025). He also authored “Measuring health care access and its inequality: A decomposition approach” (Economic Modelling, 2024) and the earlier contributions on inequality of opportunity “A Gini Approach to Inequality of Opportunity…” (Empirical Economics, 2015) and Measuring Inequality of Opportunity through Between-Group Inequality Components” (Journal of Economic Inequality, 2010).
